I keep reading about the big brother of copyrighted content going all gun ho on doing whatever it can to shut down torrent web sites.

The Linux kernel in all of its entirety is a massive beast. If you wish to compile it as a monolithic kernel of course. Fortunately the kernel can be compiled in a modular fashion.

Just about every program ever written has keyboard shortcuts built in. Once you learn those shortcuts you can run your computer faster than someone who just uses a mouse. So the theory goes.

Lets just say that in your normal course of work your memory requirements are just fine. Then one day you have to work on some file and it is gigantically, enormously, huge.

I have heard several accounts of blatant sexism in the IT industry. The most recent one that I read was on the Debian lists. Quite frankly I am ashamed of the behaviour that is displayed.

One of the most common arguments against open source is that the programmers do not make money from it. That is really not true.
